Met Gala 2014

So it’s that time of year again, the morning after my favourite celeb filled event, The Met Gala. Which means that today I am knackered, after staying up to a ridiculous time in the morning refreshing the vogue page to see all the dresses and suits and my Instagram did go a little crazy last night with up photos I had to stop myself posting every dress I saw but anyway… My favourite style icons didn’t fail to amaze me, and was shocked by how much I loved a few of the dresses but here you go, here are my top … dresses from last night.

This Gucci Premiere dress looks amazing on Blake Lively. He Grecian look isn’t usually something I am a big fan of but I love the train flowing down from the shoulder straps. I also love the colour, it is so cute with her blonder hair. Clearly Ryan agrees with me!

I absolutely love the print on this dress it’s like an ever so subtle tie dye. The colours are perfect with each other and Hayden Panettiere looks so pretty. The chest detail is also great for us girls with less of a chest than others.

This one is a little different but if you ever wondered if you could look as glamorous in a suit as you do in a dress then here is your answer. Janelle Monae wowed last night in this Tadashi Sohji outfit. The red and black coat gives this outfit the wow factor and the hair style just tops it off.

Kate Bosworth stepped out in Stella McCartney, like quite a few other celebrities, and showed off her slim figure! I love the colour and the cut away panels below the bust and at the back of the dress.
Kate Mara looks amazing. The colour is not a typical choice for a ball gown but it just works. The beautiful lace on this Valentino dress isn’t what made it one of my favourites. It was the mesh/lace sleeves that stood out and for me made the dress.

This was the first dress I saw which I immediately posted on my Instagram, it is so simple yet so elegant and of course I was going to love it….its Topshop! (Yes this is by the beloved high street brand) I also love the fish tail, this is very similar to my prom dress, but of course I looked nothing like this. Kendal Jenner looks unbelievable.

Honestly I am not a big fan of Nicole Richie’s purple hair as I loved her blonde locks but her dress choice is impeccable. The sheer and velvet Donna Karen Atelier dress hangs beautifully on her.

Now this surprised me cause I’m not usually one for such simple things but this dress caught my eye. The Ralph Lauren Collection Dress looks amazing on Rachel McAdams. I think my favourite thing about it is the fact it just hangs from the top yet it still shows of your figure.
Another Stella McCartney ensemble that wowed me was the white number that Rihanna wore. Although her style does go a wee bit too far sometime I absolutely love her and think she looked amazing and she finished the look of perfectly with a Jacob & Co. Necklace, Cartier Rings and Dionea Orcini Rings.

I would expect nothing less from Sarah Jessica Parker and I would also expect nothing less from Oscar De La Renta! She was my complete favourite last year and she is definitely defending her title. The monochrome dress is beautifully paired with satin gloves and flowers in that amazing hairstyle. My favourite part is the bodice, I love the straps and the neckline and how it leads to petal shapes on the satin skirt.

People may think it’s a bit far but I love it. The dress is so beautiful with the lace and netting combination. The material twisting round her arm adds to the wow factor of the dress and those shoes… She certainly shows that you can easily show off your shoes in a ball gown. With her signature red lipstick on Rita Ora looks amazing in this Donna Karen Atelier number.

Grammys 2014

My favourite season in celeb world has started, Award Season! This usually results in me constantly refreshing vogue, as the celebrities arrive, to see the latest dresses, followed by going through every magazine/newspaper online the following morning in case I missed something. I must say they excelled themselves at the Grammys last night, the red carpet was full of designer dresses, thigh splits, boobs, metallic, colour, you name it someone had done it.

I managed to narrow it all down to a few favourites which all happen to either be white/cream or metallic but anyway....

let starts with the queen...

An extremely risque dress from Beyonce (well maybe not in comparison to her later outfit) but this Michael Costello dress looks amazing on her and I love how she teamed the white dress with a dark lipstick.

Next we have less risque dress from a more risque celeb

Usually seen in a bra-let and hot pants Iggy Azalea really shocked me with her fairly demure Elie Saab dress. With her slicked back hair and simple make-up she nailed the angelic look.

Finally another pale number that I loved was..

Anna Kendrick wowed in this cream Azzaro number she looked amazing and I love the horizontal bust straps definitely need to invest in a dress that has these.
Anna's metallic shoes and clutch lead me on to my next trend that shone on the red carpet last night. Lots of celebrities went metallic crazy for their dress choice last night and how amazing it turned out!

Taylor Swift looked extremely chic in this Gucci Premiere chain-metal gown this could possibly be my favourite overall look of the night...?

You wonder how she kept the speculations to just rumours with this bump but even pregnant, Ciara looked amazing in this Emilio Pucci gown that seems to hug her in all the right places.

Finally...

Chrissy Teigen had it all last night, the fish tail, the bold V neckline and the thigh split and wow did she look good. Her Johanna Johnson dress choice was perfect.
So there you have it... Thats my favourite 6 from last nights Grammy's! Please comment and let me know which dress was your favourite or what you think of my choices!

My Evening Dress Choice

Ok so following on from my Evening Dress Stress blog I thought i'd share my photos of my final decision!

In the end I went for something simple, a full length, black, velvet, backless dress! As soon as I saw it in the Rhianna for River Island collection I knew straight away that it was the one I wanted!

I absolutely loved my dress and didn't feel over dressed at all as there was such a wide mix of outfits. Some people were in short dresses and big heels while others were in more casual dresses and shoe boots and then there were a group of people in long dresses.

I had such an amazing night, although I was extremely nervous about not knowing anyone and meeting all of Alexs work colleagues, once I had a few glasses of bubbly in me I felt much better!

You were given play money to play poker, roulette or black jack and you know what they say about beginners luck... I spent about an hour winning every hand on black jack it was great fun! They also had a photo booth with funny props!!

Anyway after all the stress I found my perfect dress!

Evening Dress Stress

OK so I finally have an actual date for my Boyfriend’s work’s Christmas Dinner Dance and to be honest I wish I didn’t know now. Ever since finding out I have been so stressed out about what to wear. Its not till December so I have a lot of time yet but until I find a dress I know i'll be worrying about it so the sooner I find one, the better.

The last formal event I went to was my school prom;

Although I absolutely love my dress its a bit too much for a Christmas dinner!

So here we go....

Problem Number One - I know that I can wear a short dress or long dress which obviously just makes it harder cause now I have the decision of which one should I go for and both options may have consequences!

Problem Number Two - I suspect I will be the youngest one there and although this doesn't bother me I don’t want to wear something too young. HOWEVER I don’t want to dress older than I should and look frumpy!

Problem Number Three – What colour should I go for? I was thinking black? Its formal and a safe option, but is it boring? There are so many beautiful dresses in all different colours so do I risk it and be a bit more adventurous?

I realise this is still black but its a bit more adventurous than plain?

Problem Number Four - Whats the best option if I get a backless dress and a bra isn't an option? I need suggestions on this as my boob popping out isn't exact;y something I want to happen especially when meeting my boyfriends work colleagues!! Can you imagine the humiliation!

Problem Number Five – I’m a student, I don’t have a lot of money (mainly because of my Topshop addiction!) And there are so many amazing dresses way out of my price range. Does anyone know any websites where I could get a gorgeous dress at a low price?

Any help is welcome as I guess you'll of gathered by now I have no idea what to do!

Met Gala 2013

I could hardly contain my excitement to see the amazing outfits from a night where fashion is key! The Met Gala of 2013 was sure to be interesting with the theme of Punk and I did begin to question how celebrities such as Katie Holmes and Anne Hathaway were going to pull off such an out there theme when they usual go for simple elegance! Some guests completely embraced the punk look from their dress, hair, makeup and whatever else and other touched on the theme! But wow did they all do an amazing job! It was tough but i managed to choose a few favourites!

Ok so they aren't in order....

Blake Lively stepped on in a Gucci Premiere Gown specially designed for her. She looks amazing! The light green bodice followed by the outstanding tiered black train was perfect for the striking blonde. The train hinted at the theme while the dress showed elegance and attitude.

Jessica Biel, (as much as I dislike her for marrying the lovely Justin Timberlake) perfectly pulled this off her look on the night! I love the dress itself, which is Giambattista Valli Haute Couture. Its gorgeous and she adds to it (to fit the theme) by adding macrame and tulle leggings. The detail ok it all is amazing and so elegant.

I absolutely love this! Sienna Miller's white open back Burberry dress is perfect for just now with white being such an on trend colour this summer!  The Jacket hits the theme on the head, its amazing, and he little touches with studs in her hair and ears, I think she has the perfect mix of punk and elegance for the event.

And my favourite.....

It may just be because I have discovered a love for her after watching Sex And The City from the start but every time I see her i just think WOW! The Dress itself is gorgeous the range of colours and the gathered look, the things just seems to work! However I think everyones attention is more on her Philip Treacy Mohican headpiece while embraces the punk looks in a strange but elegant way! And the Tartan Boots! I just think anyone else trying this would of been labelled as a random fashion mishap but she just pulls it off, god knows how but she looks amazing!

I probably repeated words several times but anyway I think all the celebrities looked amazing and honestly I wasn't appalled by that many celebrities, considering the risque theme it was a great fashion success!
