Memory Boxes

I love my room at university but I don’t have my things to decorate it with as room decorations are normally expensive and seen as unnecessary purchases for a student. Also like most fashion students i'd rather spend my money on clothes and cocktails!

I recently went to Paris and came back with all my tickets from places we went and small memoirs such as a spare key to our lock on lovers bridge, also I messed up the first padlock we got so I have kept that one as a wee keepsake! These were just shoved in a box full of junk which I though was such a shame and wanted someone I could keep them properly so they didn't get lost.

Seen as I am a bit fashion obsessed I thought why not do a box for each fashion capital in the world seen as I have been to all 4.

I started off by ordering 6 plain wood boxes from eBay (they only came in sets of 6) these cost £12 in total.
I then went to Homebase and picked  up some tester tubes of paint

The reason I chose the colours I did is because my room is white and greens, this is because I fell in love with a gorgeous material which my mum made into a bed throw for me, but you could choose any mix of colours you want!

I then painted each box a different colour and down one side wrote the name of each place

I'm going to print off my favourite photos from each place and fill them with memoirs and hopefully if I go back to these places I can add to them every time!

I know this blog is a little different from usual but I hope you like it. Let me know what you think of my idea!!

Video Shoot with Mallzee

I recently wrote a blog all about the company Mallzee who I am a student ambassador for. They are an amazing online shopping website which lets you create your own online shopping mall with some of your favourite high street brands, so they are all on one web page just for you. You can then shop online easily and with your friends.

I went down to Edinburgh to help shoot the video, to advertise their brand new app exclusively available for FREE on ITunes now, available here

Here is the brand new video;

It was an amazing day and lots of fun, we got to do the video shoot and then walked round Edinburgh having a few photos taken at different spots in the city centre. This is the day I realised that I feel sorry for models cause they have an extremely tiring jobs!

After a hard day of shooting we got to chill and try out the new app back at Mallzee headquarters.

You can share looks with friends, save your favourite items, and find the perfect dress. Its easy to use and gives you quick demonstrations of everything you need to know before you enter the app! My favourite feature is the discover tool which allows you to narrow down your search by type of clothing, colour or brand to find exactly what you are looking for.

Its hard to online shop on your phone unless you are purposely going on to buy one specific item, but the Mallzee app makes it so much easier to shop from all of your favourite store, on the go! If you are like me and can't get enough of shopping then you will love this app!

Visit mallzee.com to sign up to their website and create your own online mall, or download the app, trust me you won't regret it! (App available here)
If you do download it leave a comment and let me know what you think!!

Talk about oversized..

So seen as the weather is now hitting a high of 11 degrees in Scotland it time to face facts, its WINTER so I thought I better start looking for a winter coat. I absolutely love the oversize coats that are coming in so I thought I would share my favourite few..

I love this Topshop coat its such a lovely shape and shade of grey
Topshop - £85

The Tartan items entering the shops will no doubt be in my wardrobe sooner or later
and the green in this coat makes it unique and a bit more quirky.
Zara - £89.99

Again with the Tartan but I think this is my favourite I love the colours and
the length it would be perfect with most outfits and I am really considering purchasing it.
What do you think?
Urban Outfitters - £145

Finally this pop of colour could brighten up any winter outfit, i'm not normally a
lover of long coats but I am really warming to them this year.

Paris in September

So the last week I have been in the gorgeous city of Paris and I couldn’t resist writing a blog about my trip.
It was my 20th birthday while I was away and I was fine with leaving my teens until my boyfriend and sister went on about it, trying to make me feel bad and its only because Alex is reaching his mid 20’s and my sister is in her late 20’s!!! But anyway on to Paris;

First thing you need to know about Paris is that it is expensive, everyone knows it is but we discovered a few ways you can save money. At the majority of tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower people age 14-26 get money off, you also save money on the subways on weekends so if you are in this age bracket make sure you always carry something to prove your age as you will definitely save a few pennies. Another thing we found was that a lot of bars have Happy Hours usually between 1pm and 9pm so if you are going to stop for a drink during the day make sure you find a bar that's on happy hour and at night head out before 9 for a few half price drinks, trust me you enjoy a cosmopolitan much more when its 6 euros instead of 12!

We did all the usual touristy things seen as it was Alex first time in Paris;

The Louvre
And its fair to say I got a bit bored after 3 hours....

The Eiffel Tower
Anyway you get the idea but what I really wanted to share was all my favourite things from the last two years that not everyone knows. First of all my favourite bar is a Piano Bar in the Latin Quarter called Le Relais de la Huchette its a very cute bar that has a grand piano and a different singer each night. They do amazing Cosmopolitans and the staff are lovely they even come over to your table to remind you that Happy Hour is about to finish and did we want another drink (half price!)

Another favourite thing of mine is the ice cream place that is Amorino they are all over Paris and I would highly recommend popping in if you pass one. My favourite flavours are Cherry and Amaretto, but the best thing is as well as the ice cream being amazing you get it sculpted into rose petals!

Also I recommend a visit to the Sacre Cour, even if you don't like visting cathedral on holiday sitting on the steps in the sun and watching the street performers is so much fun and will keep you amused for hours.

I have probably missed out a lot but its getting a tad long and there are way too many photos. I hope you liked my blog on Paris, let me know what you think and if you have ever been and what your favourite things were!!
